Vector mapping has traditionally been the most popular photogrammetric product and comprises the bulk of Mapmaker's workload. Whether you need planimetrics only or plan and topo maps, we can provide you with the accuracy you need at a price that will make your project work.
Feature collection is generally done with Mapmaker's own layering scheme that was devised to be intuitive, logical, and complete. Many clients find this is sufficient for their needs. Others have an existing standard that the data structure must conform to. By customizing our libraries and altering collection procedures when necessary, we can easily accomplish this.
Our standard procedure is to collect virtually all data (except for vegetation) at its true elevation. Rather than tracing contours as was done in the past, contours are generated from a 3D surface, which is normally included in the delivered data. Planimetric surface features are incorporated in this surface, so the topography will always agree with the planimetric data. This also gives you a much better 3D model for design work than contours alone can provide.
Mapmaker also employs a variety of translators to format the data for most software you use. Our experience with data translation and standards conformity ensures that our data will work with your systems the way it should. Many of our clients elect to get only digital files, but we can supply hard copy plots as well.
